It's A New Semester!!!

Oh wells!!!
Here comes my Year 2 Sem 2!!!
Despite telling myself that I have to work really hard to pull up my academic performance,
I still had pretty busy (but not all events were academic related) Week 1 and the week before it hahaha

Rushed back to Singapore on 7th Jan
to catch up for the rehearsal for NUSSO 2015 NAF concert
since the repertoire is quite intense
Besides attending for the tutti rehearsal
I had to make some time to practice piano accompaniment of the two items for our Miniatures concert, which is on the first week of school
There goes my weekend...
The long long scores...pasted them together so I don't need to get a page-turner
Then the second Friday night of the year I had a really good #TGIF plan
the OMM Goes to The Movies 2 concert, which the tickets I bought with two other friends,
but it ended up both of them can't make it and I had to get another two people to go with me
Overall it's an enjoyable concert (and it was so worth it cuz we bought the tickets with earlybird price LOL)
The OMM with the Vocal Associates Festival and Children's Chorus
On Sunday, finally I moved back to hostel
As the school starts immediately rather than having an Orientation Week,
I couldn't move the luggage batch by batch
Took a taxi after some consideration as I thought it would be expensive like more than $20 but it turned out to be less than $15 (I overestimated the distance between my aunt's house and school)

Then, school started on Monday but it was my free day and I had a short lab meeting instead
During the meeting with my UROPS supervising prof's lab member, we discussed a paper published recently
#Lesson Learnt: even well-established scientific journals can have papers published with loopholes LOL#

Tuesday was the busiest day for the whole week
Attended lectures from 10am-2pm, rushed to the soundcheck session for Miniatures but one of my partner didn't turn up as she overlooked the date(...I was a bit bewildered while another partner was a bit angry), rushed to the hospital to accompany my aunt to the specialist's appointment, and finally rushed back to school to attend the Miniatures full-run rehearsal

Wednesday was no better
Lecture 10am-12pm, lab session 12-5pm!!! (didn't expect the extraction of RNA, reverse-transcription of DNA and preparation for PCR can take so long...) then rushed to the concert venue to prepare for the event
But luckily the concert turned out to be fine
WE HAD A FULL HOUSE OF AUDIENCE!!!
And was so happy that my items both received positive feedbacks
And the seniors actually complimented that my piano playing improved!!!
烟花易冷 with Myungsik Cho and Yanran Chen

Another night of Miniatures for me to remember
On Thursday, better...
Had a good night sleep to cover back the debts from past two days
Flipped through a bit of my lecture notes
Went to Utown to get one-for-one Starbucks drinks and printed scores for my orchestra members
Also attended a session of Singapore International Violin Competition semifinals and the Singaporean representative Loh Jun Hong was so good!!! (especially in his interpretation of the complex contemporary piece)
Besides, I braved myself to sign up for the Rin Collection violin tryout session on Saturday hahaha
After that, joined Xiaoxuan's and Zhennian's bday surprise celebration (it's been so long since I last celebrated my fellow AMCISian's bday together)
Bday celebration for Xiaoxuan and Zhennian
Starbucks 1-for-1 with Sooyee!!! :D

TGIF!!!
As the timetable says so, attended the four-hour core modules lecture then rushed off to attend another session of SIVC semifinals (the funny thing is I mistaken the 2.30pm timing as 2pm haha rushed like mad, but it's better to be early than late) and while waiting for the door to open, watched the YST student doing demo on an antique vioin (was captivated by the brilliant sound)
Rushed to attend another lecture at Faculty of Arts & Soc Scns, it was not really necessary but I took it as a revision to refresh my memory for social psychology as this time I really need to be serious for this module...
Dinner with my Connect Group friends and some visitors!!!
The night was so fun (maybe plus a bit of intense and exciting for me haha) playing boardgames!!!
I told myself to end early and go back to rest but we all ended up playing without knowing the time flies (stopped playing at almost 11pm hahaha!!!) Nice to have known a few more new friends (and especially a fellow Malaysian)
Boardgames Night with NUS Connect Group!!!
Here comes Saturday!!!
Waited for this day for a few days as I had been longing to tryout the legendary antique violins from the Rin Collection
Went together with KarLuis and Dongzhou and we all had good time with those precious masterpieces
I tried for four violins (which are 2 Amati, 1 Guadagnini and 1 Strad, a total worth of over 10 million, or more USD!!!) and I really admire their timbre and tone (now I really think my violin is so feeble)
with the Giovanni Battista Guadagnini 1753
After the tryout session, went back to my room at hostel to pack up ready to go youth service at Tampines but ran a bit over time...so went to Rubikon at Tanah Merah with Rachel instead
First service attended this year!!! felt so encouraged and my heart was directed back to God again (the past two weeks I was like lost again and not in the fighting mood)
First youth service attended for this year at Rubikon!
Then went home after dinner with Rachel, felt so good to be back at my aunt's house again, seeing her fine

It's another week starting!!! ~Sunday~
Woke up quite late in the morning at 10 smthg LOL
Felt so refreshed
Lunch was already prepared by my super loving aunt!!! with my favourite watercress soup
Left house for the first NUSSO combined sectionals for the year led by the always funny Mr Foo
Did a lot of hardwork for the 1812, then Rhapsody in Blue without the winds around...(felt so lost but luckily with a better player sat beside as my desk partner haha)

Oh and...my intense Week 1 was over...and here comes Week 2!!!
Have to catch up with my UROPS project progress!!! Hope and pray that my research design will pop-up soon haha!!! And have to take care of other modules as well....plus my NUSSO and church commitments...
FIGHTING!!!

Wrap Up 2014 :)

Year 2 Sem 1

(Hallelujah!!!)

Here!

VivoCity Rooftop Amphitheatre

好吧!New Year, New Beginning!
